Born in New York, Ruth attended Syracuse University receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She moved to New York City where she became an art director of a major magazine at age 26. She then moved to Los Angeles and worked as a freelance so that she might continue her career and begin her family. Working with many major publishers she developed a keen eye working as an art director, stylist, and story coordinator. Once her two children were older she worked for Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, managing the Art, Design and Production department for their Los Angeles textbook division. Since 2003 she has been running a consulting firm, allowing her time for her photography and painting.

Ruth's art is printed on Somerset Velvet 100% cotton rag paper and her photos are printed on Premium Luster Photo paper. Both are printed with the giclée process using archival pigments and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity
